New sketchbook

Two pages from my new sketch book. The man was done in acrylic ink and the lady in poster colours. Just trying out the effect on a smoother, thicker paper. Messed up the hatching on the man's jaw, but still like the picture :) Reference drawn from magazine photos.

Crybaby

Detail of painting I did last night. Full image below - 24"x 30".

Felt moody last night and so transferred my energy to painting. The canvas is "recycled" by stretching, glueing and stapling fabric onto an used/old canvas frame. The branches are part of the fabric pattern from Ikea. Used acrylic, acrylic ink, charcoal. Took about 4 hours. Not 100% sure the painting works, but I did feel better after.

It's a new year! :)
